Complete a Proposal (#95)

How about we finally complete a proposal. Maybe even implement a timeline in which they will be completed or an ETA. That may help factor in how many votes a new proposal gets. If a proposal doesnt get completed in a certain time, it gets removed. Because obviously it's not too important.

  • Yes, a wish list is what it is beginning to look like. I don't want to appear like I don't appreciate having a development corner. I really do, in fact It is my favorite thing about this pool, and one of the big reasons I continue to mine it instead of others. But over the past few months, it almost appears as though the development corner has been getting absolutely no attention from the site owners and developers. In fact, besides the recent update about the "cloudbleed" fiasco, it almost looks like the whole pool, not just the development corner, is running on autopilot, without any human intervention at all. As I understand it, the whole point of having the development corner is so that a community that believes in a decentralized currency can have a democratic type influence over their involvement in said community. But in order for that to work, there needs to be a two way transfer of information. We give information to the pool owners and developers by means of voting with hashing power. But as it is now, we get very little if any information in return. It is very hard to make an informed desicion on what proposals to support if we do not know how the selection process works, or where we stand on completing what we have already started. Again, even if all we got was a weekly, heck even monthly report that says something like "We are still working on proposal X this month, and have made some progress on it, but not a lot" or "we have made a lot of progress on proposal X, but it's hart to say when it will be ready to implement" I think it would go a LONG way. Because as it is now, as far as anybody can tell, literally nothing is being done on anything.

  • I agree with Architect 100%, just below. Is this voting system just for show? What are the latest changes that have been implemented during 2016? Did it/they start with a proposal here? This is looking more like a wish list that is years old, with nothing I have noticed to show for it... ???

  • YES! We need to have some sort of indication that work is being done on something at least. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed in a long time. Several months, in fact. No new proposals have been approved, and none have been completed. I understand that it might be hard to give us a timeline, but even a monthly statement saying "we're still working on that one" would be nice, even if that is all it said. I just want some indication that anything at all is happening.

  • Proposal 17 issue - Resolved ! ======================== Proposal 17, Support Algo X11. All in Russian which really doesnt help his cause, but the kicker is it has less than 5 Ghs. Just like Slush's Pool supporting alt coin mining this is one of those things that just isn't gonna make it. That should be removed also... — crusherone, 27 December 2014, 09:12 :) 17 - should be totally removes, but timeline is a good idea.

  • I like the idea of having a timeline. I also think that there should be a pruning procedure for proposals that are not going to make it, although it may not be purely time based. It could factor in its net score as well as net score over time, time since it was proposed, rate at which votes change over time, and the rate at which accepted proposals are being completed (so that something that takes a long time to implement does not adversely affect other proposals) etc, etc. just throwing out ideas, I know that is all really vague.

  • Proposal 50, Servers in Australia. If you intend on financing a server to make it easier for them, then yes it should have been made it out of draft. But it has less than 5 Ghs and a waste of time and space if you don't intend to spend the cash necessary to make it easier for the 3 people mining there. Should be removed...

  • Thanks for adding "Proposals Completed" and "Proposals in Works" under the list of proposals. That's a great start. Now time to clean up the rest of the proposals. No need to have all the different kinds of reward payout. There's a clear cut winner on that. Plus the others voted up are almost voted down as much. It's the same reward system we have now. Cut the crap and nix the reward proposals. That will help shorten the list and add to the completed column.
