BTC Trading Marketplace (#67)

Allow Bitcoin trading so we can buy and sell bitcoins between ourselves. Slush's pool can hold the Bitcoins until receipt of payment is confirmed.

How it works:

  1. User 'A' agrees to purchase Bitcoins from User 'B' at a specific price.
  2. User 'B' send the Bitcoins to Slush's Escrow Pool
  3. Shush's Escrow Pool confirms receipt
  4. User 'A' transfers the money to user 'B'
  5. User 'B' confirms receipt to Slush's Escrow Pool
  6. Slush's Pool transfers the Bitcoins to User 'A'

Potential Problems

  1. User 'B' fails to confirm that the money has been received Solution: User 'A' applies to Slush's Escrow Pool for the Bitcoins to be released and provides proof of payment to User 'B'

This way Slush's pool never need to handle peoples money just the Bitcoins, all purchasing transaction messages can be recorded via the system to avoid later disputes.

Slush's Pool will no doubt have to charge for this service as all other trading platforms do, but at least we would have access to a Bitcoin market we could trust and all in one place.

It comes to mind that we all trust Slush'd pool so would probably be happy to trade Bitcoins here, and anyone attempting to cheat the system could be kicked off the Pool as well as the trading desk.

Comments & Updates

  • This is not a cryptocurrency exchange.

  • I like it! Reminds me a little bit of the exchange on Faucethub, it follows the exchange prices for different coins not actually cash money however

  • other pools that got into exchanges ended up just being exchange site, then they fail! it is a bad idea for mining pools!

  • No. they should just center on the development and maintenance of the pool. This will make fall into the KYC and AML hands. TL,DR: You can trade elsewhere.

  • Proposal merged with #363

  • I could also add this feature if approved. A multi-crypto currency exchange that has just about every feature that you would see on trading platforms such as Cryptsy & CEX.IO. This would actually add a lot of revenue for the pool itself as you can charge a small fee for each trade that is made.I could see this being well worth the time of implementation.

  • In my opinion this is unnecessary, as this will lead to an increase in fraudulent manipulation.

  • I must agree with the above comment, pool development and ways to make it better / more profitable should come first
    — kingpin121, 25 November 2014, 02:11
  • I prefer development time to be spent on the pool. Not this One Size Fits All Do Everything For Me.
