Slush Pool version 3 public beta launched!
Support for Bitcoin Classic (#517)

We are getting near super-majority consensus for Bitcoin Classic. With a super majority a clean, hard fork to the 2 MT block size limit will be possible, solving the issues with delays in transactions and increasing fees. Bitcoin became popular as a vehicle to transfer funds to any other user anywhere in the world quickly and free or virtually free of cost. Let's protect that quality until Bitcoin achieves widespread adoption worldwide. Eventually fees should become part of the equation, but if they enter too quickly, the attraction to new users might fade and Bitcoin will not be as strong. Let's support Classic!

  • The latest update on twitter was that the classic switch should be implemented by the end of the week

  • I'm moving to P2XTpool. They're actually committing to this. You haven't even given us an update in a month. I might be a small miner, but I imagine others will follow suit eventually.
    — gappleto97, 27 February 2016, 06:02
  • Please give us an update.
    — gappleto97, 26 February 2016, 23:02
  • LiquidGamerX I believe you misunderstand Bitcoin Classic. It is Bitcoin with the block size limit of 2 MB instead of 1 MB. The 1 MB limit was never, ever meant to be permanent. Please read the transcripts from the original developers of bitcoin. It was a temporary block size limit in place until the volume of bitcoin transactions necessitated an increase in the block size limit. Without the increase, transactions will get much slower, fees will get higher, and bitcoin will lose its appeal to new users. No one is talking about any hostile takeover of anything, just let the miners decide.

  • I agree with kayell, please allow an "opt-out" option. I will not support hostile takeovers of bitcoin core. Bitcoin "Classic" is deceptive, hard-forks are alt-coins (Litecoin, Dogecoin, Digialcoin, etc).
    — LiquidGamerX, 25 February 2016, 18:02
  • i want to control my miners to NOT mine "Classic" blocks. Please allow us to do so!
    — kayell, 25 February 2016, 04:02
  • I want to mine 2mb blocks. Come on. Lets do this.
    — martinbarlow, 24 February 2016, 22:02
  • Update please
    — gappleto97, 23 February 2016, 21:02
  • what happened to this update? the only consensus we recognise is in the blockchain, not some alleged meeting?

  • Update please?
    — gappleto97, 19 February 2016, 19:02
  • Can we get an update on this? It's about time we commit to Classic. Otherwise you might see miners bailing soon.

    — molecular, 11 February 2016, 18:02
  • Does Slush officially support Bitcoin Classic?
    — wksantiago, 11 February 2016, 14:02
  • Classic All The Way! Lets stop piddling and get the job done.
    — tastybit002, 08 February 2016, 06:02
  • The sooner we raise the blocksize and fork away from Core and Blockstream's employees having outsized control over the bitcoin ecosystem, the better. Bitcoin is a free-market currency and asset - so let's let the free-market set the blocksize, and also let the free-market determine what implementations to run. I vote to start with Classic.
    — handle77, 23 January 2016, 03:01
  • 2MT is too short-sighted, we'll just have to go through this AGAIN too soon with such a small increase in block size.
    — QuintupleLeo, 22 January 2016, 11:01
  • Lets go Classic. Core has had years to sort this out and FAILED.

  • XT seems to be dead, so why not change the addresses mining for XT to classic instead?
    — grix, 22 January 2016, 06:01
  • I have a question regarding this implementation, what will happen to the payouts after getting rewards from the classic blocks? I mean, will I be able to get payout on the same bitcoin address? If so, I support this proposition.
    — techsammy, 22 January 2016, 04:01
  • Slush needs to officially support Bitcoin Classic. 2MB will ensure that transaction times and fees stay low for much time to come. Well worded by sp44.
    — flyBTC, 22 January 2016, 03:01
  • 2MB blocks are reasonable. Let the will of the miners, exchanges and users decide this - not just a select group of developers!
    — canth, 22 January 2016, 03:01
  • Let's end this endless gridlock and get Classic rolling.
    — kyrrui, 22 January 2016, 00:01
  • I switched my hash power to this pool in the hope I could join a bitcoin classic node! The sooner the better!
