Namecoin merge mining (#14)

Implement merge mining of Namecoins and let users to collect NMC for free while mining on the pool. The beauty of merged mining is that you don't spend anything more on electricity and you gain Namecoin for free as a side product of Bitcoin mining.

  • I remember back not too long ago bitcoin.cz did do NMC merged mining... Then one day it just seemed to stop.
    — dmelvin, 19 March 2015, 16:03
  • We started to work on this. A short news will be released in a day or two.
    — pmo, 18 March 2015, 19:03
  • It doesn't seem like it's a difficult thing to implement and like the below posted mentioned, CEX (GHASH) has been doing this for a while with 3 alt coins.
    — bmoscato, 17 March 2015, 15:03
  • Probably going to move my 61TH to cex because of this missing feature... I realy like this pool so it is a hard decision for me but it means about 30$ per month more in my pocket for a farm of my size so I have to think with my brain, not my heart here... sorry :/ Please let me know when merge mining has been implemented, I will come back for sure!
    — Athriaxo, 17 March 2015, 07:03
  • Is this going to happen?
    — bmoscato, 13 March 2015, 11:03

  • Hello, i would like to ask you, when will be merge mining BTC and NMC started here. Thank you for your answer.
    — Icey-Eyes, 18 February 2015, 19:02

    — hashartmaker, 30 December 2014, 08:12
  • whats the hold up,lets do it,how long it takes to hook up name coin
    — pvodka, 20 December 2014, 01:12
  • It's like to see a three way merged mining effort between BTC, NMC, and Peercoin!! Peercoin is currently worth more / hash then NMC is but mining all three would be the best!! Any merged mining effort would be greatly appreciated though for sure!!
    — Ghosty55, 17 December 2014, 17:12
  • Still waiting for free coins....... slush, please add this as soon as you can. Thanks!
    — sEpuLchEr, 17 December 2014, 04:12
  • What is the fuzz kick it on!!
    — KLJ, 11 December 2014, 09:12
  • Slush? Curiosity has killed all the cats awaiting a reply to us on this topic. I think everyone messaging is in favor and also, all whom do not sign up will simply be leaving more coins for the ones whom do. Yet another revenue stream for us and the pool. At a time when others are shutting down Slush's Pool evolves. Now this is Bitcoin spirit!
    — j5bit5coin5man, 08 December 2014, 15:12
  • if somebody dont wan mane coins they can just send it to my addres :)
    — klocpl, 08 December 2014, 13:12
  • i love extra money! give me the namecoins
    — klocpl, 08 December 2014, 13:12
  • Since it is free money without effort, this should be turned on directly.
    — KLJ, 08 December 2014, 12:12
  • All merged mining should be set to GO!
    — sa3bib, 08 December 2014, 10:12
  • On cex.io you mine NMC, IXC and DVC with any fuss. I would like to see the same here so I can switch to this pool permanently
    — lukavia, 07 December 2014, 10:12
  • I'd like to see merged mining as long as the setup is easy for the miner.
    — EZ97echo, 06 December 2014, 21:12
  • Still waiting..... just curious. Shouldn't there be a dateline or something for voting?
    — sEpuLchEr, 28 November 2014, 16:11
  • Add the "Namecoin Mining Opt-In" and add another option under that "Auto Exchange Namecoin for Bitcoin" and I would love to check both of those boxes. Especially after a day like today with no BTC blocks found...
    — crusherone, 23 November 2014, 04:11
  • YES!!! Apart from 'something for nothing' we will also help strengthen the namecoin network. Are there any other coins we could merge mine as well ?
    — NicholasLello, 22 November 2014, 10:11
  • I know BTC are used in many places, where can you use namecoin
    — swifty8078, 22 November 2014, 05:11
  • I'm in. I agree with FireWalkerX too. We'd be very pleased if you hurry up and imimplement this.
    — hashartmaker, 21 November 2014, 16:11
  • What about Namecoin, Ixcoin, Devcoin, I0coin, and Groupcoin?
    — tjj, 21 November 2014, 04:11
  • +1 FireWalkerX 's comment about autoexchanging
    — FPS_Machete_HD_, 20 November 2014, 07:11
  • I agree with merged mining and have suggested Cryptsy be used as an exchange. (happy dance I get my miner today a 60gh one I hope it works well, it's all I could get currently)
    — kingpin121, 20 November 2014, 07:11
  • Free coins for the same work. Let's get it started!
    — sEpuLchEr, 20 November 2014, 03:11
  • looks like namecoin merging is the number 1 choice for everybody pls hurry up slush what you waiting for
    — pvodka, 20 November 2014, 00:11
  • ^^^^ I agree with Firewalker. Thats what i was going to say. If we do Merged Mining, it would be neat so that yea... those namecoins exchange automatically into BTC. So u reached 1000Namecoins, now it can auto exchange into BTC or you can manually do the exchange. I think this would increase everyone profit dramastically. (but would this theory not decrease the total amount of BTC available in the world or w.e????? or would it not have any impact towards it
    — cris12821, 19 November 2014, 22:11
  • What if any are the reasons for not merge mining right now?
    — nsxvegeta, 19 November 2014, 02:11
  • yes I vote for it! There should be more altcoins around that work for merged mining. DEM for example would be good, it's one of the most profitable sha256 altcoins at the moment. But no idea if merged mining is limited to NMC only. Ghash had also IXC and DVC, but they are in fact worthless...
    — marcus72ch, 18 November 2014, 20:11
  • Best proposal so far. Don't see any downside. Would like to see it again.
    — GeorgeLeto, 18 November 2014, 16:11
  • Merged mining would be brilliant, no extra power usage, and more income, those who don't like it must not understand how merged mining works...
    — bit_minter, 18 November 2014, 11:11
  • I like when we merge mined namecoin in the past here on Slush
    — kkurtmann, 18 November 2014, 06:11
  • *If* the merged mining will be implemented, it will be definitely "opt-in" (user will start MM by filling his NMC address), so don't worry!
    — slush, 18 November 2014, 02:11
  • I don't mine at Ghash for that reason. If merge-mining is instituted, I would be willing to accept a slightly higher pool fee if I can opt-out of NMC with a preference check box. I am zero interested in dealing with any exchange of any sort for the purposes of trading NMC for BTC.
    — flerpie, 18 November 2014, 00:11
  • You know. Ghash does this. and I'd say because of the free NMC It's gained me .12 BTC idk the timespan... but .12 BTC for free without doing anything. Convert NMC to BTC and your set. I like this idea and i hope it goes over well
    — cris12821, 17 November 2014, 23:11
  • Any CPU cycles/horsepower spent on something other than BTC is worthless to me.
    — flerpie, 17 November 2014, 23:11
  • I don't get why the merge mining is so bad for other people. What nobody wants free altcoins just because? wouldn't be a bad thing at all in my opinion, just another thing you might want to keep track of in the mean time, your choice ultimately.
    — theblackknightxiii, 17 November 2014, 23:11
  • I recommend to read http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/273/how-does-merged-mining-work and http://dot-bit.org/Merged_Mining for deeper understanding of Merged mining, and you'll see that it's not bad at all.
    — slush, 17 November 2014, 23:11
  • @flerpie That's the beauty of merged mining - you don't spend *anything* and you gain Namecoin for free as a side product of Bitcoin mining.
    — slush, 17 November 2014, 22:11
  • I don't want to spend big electric bill on worthless altcoin. I say no to merged mining.
