Peercoin Merged Mining (#116)

Namecoin was already proposed but it is far less valuable from a mining standpoint right now then mining Peercoin would be... Would be cool if you could actually mine all three in a merge but Im not sure that's possible... I'd be happy with either I just thought I would throw Peercoin into the mix as it's currently worth more per MH then Namecoin is...

Any merged mining effort is a bonus though and if you could pull it off you would have a lot of happy miners!!

Comments & Updates

  • Don't waste your votes here. Peercoin cannot be merge mined. There is a proposal for multiple merge-mined coins. That is a more efficient way.

  • As others said, Peercoin cannot be merge mined. It could be mined separately, but it is a waste of time, because BTC is more profitable.

  • You'd best put your votes and points into one. There is merge mining thread that addresses most the mineable coins merged.

  • It's possible if you are looking for that so try little bit harder than before. As far as my knowledge goes, Peercoin (By design) cannot be merge mined. Alternatively, Unobtanium (UNO), Myriadcoin-SHA-256 (MYR), and Namecoin, can all be merge mined at the same time with Bitcoin. :)

  • You can Merged Mining Emercoin. This crypto recently started MM (~2 week ago), and current network hashrate still low yet, about 5 Ph/d.

  • Peercoin cannot be merged mined, unlike Crown. please merge this with #597
    — defunctec, 24 December 2016, 15:12
  • possible you can merge this with 597?

  • Peercoin is not merge-mine-able by design. If that ever changes, I would support this notion, but at this point, it is not feasible. If slushpool wants to incorporate peercoin, it could do so by implementing a peercoin mine, but that would divert hashing power away from bitcoin and any other truly merge-mine-able coins that may be added, which would be a self-defeating measure.

  • Peercoin has a separate POW chain. It's not merge-mineable like Namecoin.

  • Yes Peercoin would be good altcoin
    — roulianes, 26 June 2016, 21:06
  • this should of been implemented already... slush dragging their feet on this one and losing out on a good possibility on making more profit for their miners. make your customers happy the more they will put in.
    — cagethefroob, 24 June 2016, 14:06
  • The only question I have about this now is why are we not already doing it, or at the very least actively implementing it?

  • yea peecoins are worth more or can be if you let them mint so yea i vote for it.

  • I mean, if we can merge mine ANY coin, lets do it! More income for the miners means that the pool gets more fees leading to greater resources to improve the pool further. It does make sense to prioritize merged mining on coins that are worth more per MH though. Im all for it!
    — Architect, 31 January 2016, 17:01
  • If you can merge-mine a coin you can merge-mine ALL coins that CAN be merge mined. So go for both!

  • will they just do it already. it would pretty much double the amount of people on the pool because the more coins the bigger profit and everyone wants that.
    — RebelHarlemShaker, 11 March 2015, 00:03
  • Are we going to get an answer on this anytime soon?

  • I'm 100% all for merge mining other Coins. Be like the other websites. Mine your coins, but you can trade them for other coins aswell.

  • As long as I have a check box to opt out of all altcoins. I am zero interested in any altcoin whatsoever, under the sun.
    — flerpie, 27 December 2014, 04:12
  • I indiaced on the multi-coin exchange/trade & multi-coin mini pool that if you do either than you've already done 80% of the 2nd one you end up developing because they would a lot of the same code & library for current pricing, trades, generating wallets for each of the coins. I will get to work on it as soon as I get the green light and server info that is nereded from he staff...I figured that considering most of us have sha256 ASIC mining equipment that we would mine the most more profitable sha-256bit based coin at the end of each round. That parts not up to me though.
    — hashminebtc, 22 December 2014, 08:12
  • i think there is either a "everything that could be merge-mined" or nothing at all. sorry for being pessimistic and narrowminded, but all ideas are worth exploring.
    — sa3bib, 20 December 2014, 15:12
  • I would possibly approve of PPC being mined here, however NMC forget it I have "merged mined it on another site 3 days of "merge mining" I had no more than when I started no coins or pending (needless I don't mine there any more.) If you actually got paid for merge mined coins I wouldn't mind but I can't see making block times longer to "merge mine" something I'm getting nothing for doing. Making longer block times (like they're not long enough already decreases profitability, something I do not want or agree with).
